On Sabbatical

As my mother never failed to constantly repeat and ingrain in my psyche: "If you don't have anything nice to say, then please don't say anything at all."

Life is never linear, and sometimes even the best story teller has to take a step back to assess. In my case, I have decided to give myself a little time off from public writing. It seems that I need to stop giving so intensely to the Universe and start using that energy to invest a bit more back into myself and the private realm of my creativity. The past several months have been such an intense time on so many deep and revealing levels, and it is only recently that I realized that I need to take the time to process everything.

The summer has arrived, and I am taking the time to be thoughtful, quiet and focused on the development of my doctoral dissertation. My goal is to have a working draft by September. In doing this, I am intentionally simplifying my life and keeping my outstanding obligations to a minimum. In fact, my only external experiment for the next couple of months will be my own, personal attempt at GOING COMPLETELY GREEN in my purchasing habits and lifestyle. I have the advantage of living in a small town, and so I am going to make the most of it. I also have the disadvantage of a very small savings account. As such, I have made a list of needs and wants. Interestingly, my basic necessities don't actually include the vast number of things that the average American takes as vital. That said, while I really could use a trip to the dentist right now, and I am two years overdue for an optical examination, I certainly don't NEED anything more than toothpaste and the hope that my purple plastic spectacles won't fail me while I write my dissertation. Who needs new contact lenses, anyway? It's not like I really need my peripheral vision.

As the yoga mantra goes, in honoring the Divine in me, I honor the Divine in you.... Best wishes for a good summer, my dear reader friends. I'll be back on-line soon.

Namaste

Thanks for the insights into your journey here, but yeah, you really need to 'get 'er Done'! That takes plenty of time, thinking & solitude. No one can do it for you. (Well they can, but you still might be found out). As I said to many others in similar situations, you've got to finally Meet & Close with the Enemy. Cheers & Much Good Luck, 'VJ'
